Never give away your email when you promote a website.
Back in a days when I started my online business I decided to open separate email account on Yahoo for link submissions only. I began to receive spam emails after my first round of submissions working with my first website back in 1999. Today I recieve about 5000 spam emails on this adress every month. Amount of spam increase every round I build new links for my own and my clients websites.
Month ago I cleaned my inbox to find out how many emails I will receive from January 11 to February 11. As you can see, 4393 spam emails wasn’t even detected by Yahoo spam watch and only 708 emails were sent to Bulk folder.
TechWeb Media never promoted adult, gambling, or any illegal websites. We just did regular submissions in free and receprocal directories for out clients. In the list of the lates emails you can find some “great” web marketers like Niraj Patel or Steve Waddington side by side with p**ing amateurs.

Conclusion: Create alternative email account if you promote your site online.
