- Deep linking is the most important factor in website promotion and optimisation. Link from another site to specific page increase importance of this page, content, and helps to crawl site deeper.
- Good organisations of sub-folders and pages increases importance of all pages. It helps to avoid problems when content pages not indexed by search engines.
- Internal linking help search engines index all pages and rank them better. Wikipedia is the best example when every therm or name creates a link to specific page.
- Different metatags for all pages can help to avoid duplicate content issues. Difference in metatags is important for dynamic sites with large amount of pages which are similar to each other.
- Sitemap could help to index more pages not only on Google but on other search engines as well. Don’t forget that sitemap is also a webpage with internal links which point to the most important folders and content pages.
- Tag cloud and random page functions could help to increase amount of indexed pages as well. It is useful to create sitemap for the most important terms if your site has search box.
- Duplicate content could affect amount of indexed pages as well. Don’t use manufacture descriptions and don’t copy content from another websites. Many webmasters do the same mistake when they copy and paste content from their old sites to new projects which they believe could improve their business.
- The same descriptions for similar products or the same posts which repeat each other could be an issue. Search engines will be confused which page are more important and where content is coming from.
- Many web stores suffer when webmasters don’t use a lot of words describing their products. Name and size of specific product is not enough for people to find your product and for search engine to recognize unique content on the page.
